Michelle & Jory have been in front of my camera seven times since 2014 and I swear it gets better. Every. Single. Time. This week, I am anxiously waiting for the news of their second child arriving in the world. As the excitement builds, looking back at their sunset engagement session in Biddeford Pool a few weeks ago might be the ticket to staying calm. I met up with the family during sunset for a family exploration turned maternity portraits, which is just how I like my sessions to go with families. We get together. We explore. We laugh. A lot.
Read MoreThis is crazy to believe, but I first photographed Rob & Trish seven years ago when they were both babyfaced newly engaged folks. In fact, it might have been before that when they attended a family member’s wedding. Either way, it’s been a long time! Since then, they have gotten hitched, and had their two adorable little girls who I have had the honor of capturing as they grow up. I look forward to seeing them every single year when we get together for their annual portraits.
Read MoreOne of the common questions I often field are what an engagement session is like. First and foremost, I aim for it to be a relaxed and fun experience for you two! I often say that my mantra is “less stress” and that is certainly true during your time in front of my camera.
Read MoreThere is just something about a fall day spent in an apple orchard. Especially if you get to spend it with two love birds getting ready for their 2021 wedding. And if you have the most perfect weather for it. Fortunately for me, I had just such a morning this fall when I got to visit Randall Orchard in Standish, Maine, with Tyler & Kari for their engagement session.
Read MoreWhen a family is as “on the go” all the time as my dear friend Heather and her gang, you find time anyway you can to make an annual portrait session happen. And this year that meant the last moments before the sun set without running around to other locations. Additionally, when it’s 2020, you go for comfort because that’s what we all need at this point. I loved it! No scratchy outfits, no one too cold… it was just awesome.
Read MoreA few weeks ago we hit peak foliage and perfect temps for glorious fall portraits. Whitney & Ben, who are getting hitched next summer, opted to take advantage of it. And I am so glad they did! We met up at the Sebago Lake Land Reserve, which is owned by the Portland Water District, to explore Otter Ponds together. If you haven’t visited. the Reserve, I highly recommend it! It’s one of my favorite local areas here in Standish, Maine, and features miles of trails to explore.
Read MoreSometimes you don’t need a ton of time to have a very awesome session that results in timeless photos of your family. And that’s what happens every year when I get together with one of my best friends, Jess, and her family for their annual portrait session. This year we made it happen just before sunset in only 30 minutes in Cape Elizabeth. It was fast, but so very awesome!
Read MoreOh my goodness. Rikki & Collin’s seaside wedding was an absolute dream come true! And not just because I got to hang out with Collin’s family for the first time since Zach, his brother, married Autumn four years ago. The weather was absolutely perfect. Clear blue skies with an occasional fluffy white cloud. Rikki and her ladies enjoyed a relaxing morning of pampering. Collin & Zach handled the finishing touches of the day with a skilled team of their close friends. Smiles and laughter were plentiful. And there were only a few happy tears.
Read MoreYou know how I brighten up an otherwise dreary day? Wedding photos always make me smile! Especially when the bride is Sam, who I have known since she was a freshman in high school (and I was a very new teacher). I fondly referred to her and several of her classmates as my kids. So I was excited (and felt very old) when she reached out to me saying that she and Jeff were going to get hitched and she wanted me there to capture it. And my what a glorious day it was! Spending the morning with her gals and pup while she got ready to walk down the aisle results in many laughs at our shared memories.
Read MoreBack at the beginning of August, Shawna & Sam revised their original wedding plans from a larger gathering to one that was more intimate with their immediate family. But their story started way back before they even stepped foot into a classroom when they met as youngster. They spent their youth going to school together and walking the same hallways for years before they became a couple. To say they have stories to tell of their time together would be an understatement.
Read MoreAre you getting married in smaller ceremony during the summer of 2020? Or perhaps you are planning a more intimate gathering during a week day or opting to get married between November and April. The good news is that I offer special rates and packages for weekday weddings, events held between November and April as well as weddings occurring during summer of 2020.
Read More12 weeks ago I was sitting in one of the government buildings in Augusta, Maine, working on an education advisory board (of which I am a member through my other job as a teacher). Shortly after lunch, they abruptly dismissed us with the underlying message that our world was about to change. Suddenly, our second grader was home 24/7 trying to complete the rest of her school year with our support. With two adults and an eight year old working/learning together in one place, it was exhausting for all of us! Digby, however, relished having his people home every day to cater to his every need. The days spun together and we lost track of what day of the week it was. It was mentally and emotionally draining.
Read MoreAbsolutely! I can assist with finding a location that is dog friendly so that we can include your furry friend in your portrait session. Although just about every dog-friendly location has their own guidelines, I kindly request that the dog has a leash and clean up bags are on hand for clean ups. If they have a favorite toy(s), you might want to bring it along as well so we can play with the pup and draw their attention to the camera when necessary. I love pups!

I am mildly obsessed with this little gem located in the next town over from my home. (And my love of them goes beyond the short drive home at the end of the night!) I have been working with Little River Flower Farm for years now as they have crafted beautiful arrangements and even hosted Lindsey & Ryan’s wedding. All of my couples have been very happy with their florals and I love that they are grown right here in Maine.
Read MoreI most certainly do and I love it! Maine is such a big state that I can travel throughout all of New England and spend just as much driving to other states as I do for many locations here in my own state. I have photographed weddings in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.

“Susie may have been our favorite vendor at our wedding - super down to earth and fun to be around - it was like having an extra friend helping me get ready for the day!”
Read MoreFor those of you who have been following me for a few years (or, perhaps, from the beginning) then you just might recognize the “P” family in this post from WAY BACK at the beginning when they first appeared in front of my camera when they were pregnant with their first child. Yes, it really has been that long!
