Sam + Jeff's Backyard Wedding in Buxton, Maine

You know how I brighten up an otherwise dreary day? Wedding photos always make me smile! Especially when the bride is Sam, who I have known since she was a freshman in high school (and I was a very new teacher). I fondly referred to her and several of her classmates as my kids. So I was excited (and felt very old) when she reached out to me saying that she and Jeff were going to get hitched and she wanted me there to capture it. And my what a glorious day it was! Spending the morning with her gals and pup while she got ready to walk down the aisle results in many laughs at our shared memories.

Surrounded by all of their loved ones, Sam & Jeff tied the knot in her parent’s front yard beneath a canopy of trees that she and her sisters used to play around. There was laughter. And a few tears. And their ceremony cut right to the chase and got these two love birds married! Following their formal portraits with their family, we captured their newlywed portraits at various points around the property. I love escaping with my couples for a little bit so they can reflect on what has just transpired. I take a big step back. And just let it all soak in. You feel that? You are married! And wedding planning is done!

The celebrating commenced under the tent as the sun went down on their fabulous day. First dance as a married couple, tearful dances with their parents, a bouquet and garter toss and then the delicious cutting of the cake before the dance floor got hopping with their sugar fueled guests. Some of them escaped to the campfire and smores to warm up and refuel. Other took in the starry sky that shone above them. It was a pretty amazing ending to an even more incredible day.

Jeff & Sam, you two are so great for each other. Thank you for letting me capture your incredible day and spend such a momentous day with one of “my kids”. It was so much fun!

Sam & Jeff were married at Sam's childhood home in Buxton, Maine.
