Angelina & Ravi's Indian Wedding at Granite Ridge Estate

My. Oh. My. Having the honor of capturing Angelina & Ravi’s wedding at Granite Ridge Estate this summer truly blew my mind. From the moment they reached out to me just about 11 months before their wedding, I was practically jumping up and down with excitement. I have been crossing my fingers hoping to photograph a wedding at Granite Ridge Estate since they first came on the scene. From the majestic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys to the gorgeous barn (and you know how much I love barn weddings!), I was incredibly inspired by the entire estate. Let me tell you, I don’t think that I was really ready for just how amazing it was because it was definitely better than I imagined. Add on to that the instant connect I felt with Angelina and Ravi (especially over our shared love for our furbabies) and I knew it would be a day like no other.

Lexi & Chris's Summer Wedding in Standish, Maine

While we’re dreaming of warmer days, lets take a look back at Lexi & Chris’s wedding at the beginning of August. The weather… perfect. Just the right amount of warmth. Poofy white clouds dotting a stunning blue sky. Oh, it was amazing. All of their hard work (and that of their family and friends) paid off in spades with a picture perfect wedding at Lexi’s parent’s house in Standish, Maine. The details were spot on in every way. Matching vows cards, hand lettered signs lining the aisle, wildflower seeds for their guests in adorable kraft envelopes, unique centerpieces for each table… they really outdid themselves!

Michelle & Chris's Spring Wedding at The 1888 Barn

Michelle & Chris’s pretty in pink fairy day has been lurking in the wings here on my blog for a few weeks. But, as I get ready to send along their full gallery to them in the next few days, I knew it was time to relive the day here at last through their sneak peek. And oh my what a day it was! Truth be told, I’ve been looking forward to their wedding for over a year since they first contacted me and even more so since their engagement session last October.

Ali & Lance's Intimate Christmas Wedding

This blog post is coming to you long after the newlyweds received their gallery of finished images, which seems to be my constant “problem” in my excitement to deliver the entire set to them. And, when a couple is as adorable as Ali & Lance, it is downright impossible to chose my favorite images to share here.

Sweet Ali first reached out to me several months ago about their destination holiday wedding here in her home state of Maine and I was instantly taken by her bubbly, positive personality and the romance of her relationship with Lance.

Meghan & Hunter's Fall Wedding in Wells, Maine

Back in August, I met Meghan & Hunter for the first time for their engagement session. Normally a couple might look at the weather forecast, see the rain as just about a definite, and then opt to reschedule. But these two lovebirds decided to roll the dice and opt to go for it. Worst case scenario, they would get wet! But their fingers, and mine, were crossed with the hope that handling the rain for their portraits would result in perfect weather come their wedding day.

Keeley & Dan's Fall Wedding in Buxton, Maine

Keeley & Dan reached out to me to photograph their own nuptials over a year in advance of their wedding date. Having worked with me already, it didn’t take long for them to officially crown me their wedding photographer. I love it when that happens! They were planning a backyard soirée at Keeley’s childhood home with their closest family and friends there to celebrate. In fact, the tent was actually set up where Keeley & Amber’s swing set was set up many years ago. I am sure that the weekend was a bit surreal to their parents as the lawn was taken over with lawn games, cocktail tables, an aisle, and a large white tent.

Lyndsay & Collin's Lakeside Wedding at Camp Wildwood

Fifteen months. That is how long I waited to meet Lynsday & Collin for the first time on their wedding day. Yet that fifteen months of calls and emails made it seem like I was catching up with old friends when I arrived at Camp Wildwood in Bridgton, Maine, for their wedding festivities. I found Lyndsay with her ladies with their preparations well under way in one of the cabins tucked a bit away from the other wedding guests enjoying the beach across camp. The nerves had kicked in for everyone along with the occasional giggle of excitement. Meanwhile, Collin and his gents played volleyball by the main hall before retreating to the lower level of the cabin to tackle their own primping. With their getting ready stage completed, I shooed their lingering family and friends away (sorry, y’all!) to give these two a brief moment of time to see each other. As soon as they locked eyes on each other, the stress melted away and the laughter started again. As I saw them together in one space for the first time ever, it was very obvious to me why they make such a perfect match.

Amanda & David's Eagle Mountain House Summer Wedding in Jackson, NH

As mother nature officially turned the page on the summer of 2018, I find myself looking back at the past two months in disbelief that it has been that long since Amanda & David tied the knot. And, at the same time, that it has been that long since my own wedding anniversary as Alan & I got married on August 4th much like these two. When I first met with Amanda and her mother, August seemed like it was so far away. But POOF! it arrived in a flash.

Margot & Nicholas's Destination Wedding at the Bar Harbor Regency Stone House

There might have been a royal wedding "across the pond" this past spring (just in case you forgot, of course), but Margot & Nicholas had their very own fairy tale wedding day here in Maine for their destination wedding at the timeless Stone House at the Bar Harbor Regency. When I arrived at the Stone House to start capturing formal photos of Margot with her ladies, she literally took my breath away when she came out of her room with her hair pinned up, a sparkling tiara atop her curls, three strands of pearls just grazing her collar bone, and an absolutely stunning gown and long veil from Lovely Bride's New York City Bridal Shop. I'll admit that it took me a bit to recover! I knew that the day would be filled with loads of amazing details, but I don't think there was anything that could have really prepared me for just how incredible it all was.

Anne & Derek's Wedding at Portland's Ocean Gateway

When Anne & Derek reached out to me in early December, the snow covering the ground and April seemed like a distant thought. Before we knew it though, the snow was melting, the grass was starting to look a little less grim, and the days were getting a bit longer. The chill of winter was hanging on by a thread as I arrived at the Residence Inn by Marriott Portland Downtown/Waterfront to meet Anne & Derek on their wedding day. Yet they were troopers as we made our way to Portland's Fort Allen Park for their first look next to the Fore River. The chill in the air made for good cuddling weather as they spent some moments together taking it all in.

Elizabeth & Michael's Maine Maritime Museum Wedding

Exactly eleven months prior to their wedding, Elizabeth & Michael reached out to me with their plans for their June 2018 wedding at Maine Maritime Museum. I was instantly excited at the opportunity to visit the Museum after Kelly & Kevin's wedding back in 2015. As I got to know Elizabeth & Michael and learned more about their story, my enthusiasm only grew (as did the "reply" list of our email chain). Fast forward to this past Saturday and even mother nature couldn't dampen my spirits. It was time for Elizabeth & Michael to finally get hitched! I am not sure that the forecast was what they had in mind when they opted for a June wedding, but my goodness did they rock it!

Praise from Emily & Coleman

★★★★★ (5 out of 5 stars)

"WOW, where do I begin?!?! Susie was incredible and the best money I could have spent on our wedding. When my husband and I got engaged, I spent weeks looking for the perfect photographer. There were so many, I couldn't make a decision. Had I known then what I know now after working with Susie, it would have been a no brainer. The entire day of my wedding I was blown away by her talent, her organization, discreteness, and efficiency."

Mary & Matt's Fall Wedding at The Liberty in Boston

Just in case you aren't in Maine today, looking out my window is down right depressing. There are patches of the first snow still around in the shadows while mother nature is dumping tons of rain on us. Add in the colder temps and... *sigh* it is an ideal afternoon for tea, reading a book, and cuddling with my pup. Alas, my go to activity for this rainy days is to release a much anticipated sneak peek to brighten mood.

Samantha & Dalton's Hitching Post Wedding in Dayton, Maine

A chance encounter at a birthday party started Samantha & Dalton down the path of spending the rest of their life together. If the past ten months of getting to know them both better has taught me nothing else, it is that Dalton & Samantha are gifted at making each other so very happy no matter what life has thrown at them. I dare say that Samantha simply is not capable of smiling more than she does when Dalton is around. And the twinkle that comes to Dalton's eyes when he even talks about Samantha... sigh. Life goals, friends. Needless to say, you cannot help but be so very happy when you see the two of them together.

Emily & Joven's Destination Wedding at The Barn at Flanagan Farm

Many months ago, Emily and I met each other through video chat with her newborn son chiming in when he felt necessary while I thought about how long it had been since my daughter was his size. Bonding over the chaos of motherhood, we talked about her & Joven's plans for their destination wedding here in Maine during Maine's peak foliage. I was left in awe of their teamwork as they planned their wedding from the other side of the country (with help from Cassie of Doting & Details). Tackling wedding planning with a newborn at home? They did so with style and their wedding day itself was more perfect than I could ever say. Now, they might have wished for slightly warmer temperatures and a bit more bright fall colors on the trees, but at least it did not rain!
