Katie & Andy's Rainy Wedding at Kingsley Pines in Raymond, Maine

When Katie & Andy first contacted me about their wedding back in February, I don't think any of us had a very rainy fall day in mind for their festivities at Kingsley Pines. Yet, eight months later, that's what we woke up to last Saturday with the forecast stating just that. As much as we certainly needed the rain, we were all hoping it would have been delayed just a day. Obviously mother nature had other plans and I was very, very happy that I keep a stash of golf umbrellas in my car all year just for days like theirs.

Over the months since we first connect, we have been exchanging a plethora of emails and video chatting as their plans solidified. By the time I arrived at Kingsley Pines, it truly felt like I was there to spend the day with my long time friends. And then Katie brought out her Star Wars flats for their reception and I knew that we were a match made in heaven (seriously tempted to buy my own!). Combined with her classically romantic gown from Flair Boston and her timeless beauty style... *sigh*.

Katie & Andy opted for a first look with each other prior to their guests arrival on the front porch of the lodge. Their attendants excitement could be heard echoing from inside as Andy saw his gorgeous wife to be for the first time. With a quick lull in the rain, we captured some of their portraits beneath the huge, light wrapped tree and next to the lake before we hid away and planned for their ceremony location. I need to always remember Andy's optimism as he was certain that they would be married outside as everyone else was second guessing huddled around the weather radar on their mobile devices. He was right. The rain lulled for their ceremony and the newlyweds were able to be married just where they had planned with a very personal ceremony conducted by Reverend Joyce Long. There was a lot of smiling and a few damp eyes as they finally were declared husband & wife.

As soon as we were back at the lodge, the skies opened up and Mother Nature got to work making up for lost time. We used the porch for their family photos before racing to the big red barn for their party. From heartfelt toasts from their attendants to Katie's dad cracking jokes (like gaining a summer home from this deal), their family heirloom cake toppers decorating their dessert table to just about every guest cramming their massive dance floor (seriously, it was epic)... it was an absolutely phenomenal way to start their next chapter together. All of their planning and work with the incredible Samantha Dyer of Dyer Designs & Events paid off in spades. Even with the rain.

Katie & Andy... words cannot describe how incredibly thankful and honored I am to have been there with you last weekend. I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon!

Here is a brief sneak peek of what they have in store when I release their full gallery.
